What is a lawn mower exchange program?
A lawn mower exchange program is designed to remove gasoline-powered mowers from use and replace them with pollution-free electric mowers. According to EPA, the average walk-behind gasoline-powered lawnmower pollutes 11 times as much per hour as a car or truck.
When does the exchange occur?
The program is open to residents of Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, or Preble counties. A limited number of $150 coupons toward the purchase of a Neuton CE5.2 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower will be made available on Saturday April 12 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Where does the money come from?
The money for the rebates comes from a supplemental environmental project from a local company. No tax dollars are used to pay for the rebates.
How much does the Neuton cordless mower cost?
Neuton mowers retail for $389, but the company is offering a discounted sale price of $289 to anyone who lives in Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, or Preble counties.
If you receive one of the remaining 150 coupons when you turn in a working gasoline-powered mower on April 12th, the final mower price will be $139, including shipping. All $150 coupons need to be redeemed by April 30th, 2008.
The $289 discounted sale price will be available through August 31, 2008.
How do I get a $150 coupon?
In order to receive the $150 coupon, you need to arrive before remaining coupons are exhausted and turn in a working gasoline-powered mower at the Montgomery County South Transfer Station on April 12th.
Where do I take my mower?
On April 12th, between 8am and 12pm, you can drop off your mower at the Montgomery County South Transfer Station. If you arrive before the remaining supply is exhausted, you will receive your coupon after you drop off your mower. All fluids need to be drained. You can even bring the oil and gas (must be in approved container) for disposal.
Do I need to drain the mower of oil and gas?
Yes, all gas and oil will need to be drained but you can bring the fluids to the drop-off day for proper disposal at no cost. Gasoline must be in an approved container.
Once I receive my coupon, how long do I have to order my mower?
Coupons must be redeemed by April 30th, 2008.
How do I order my mower?
Neuton will have a website to process all purchases and will also have a toll free number available to place orders over the phone.
How much does it cost to ship the mower to my house?
Shipping costs are included in the price of the mower.
How long will it take to get my Neuton Mower?
All mowers will be shipped using UPS ground shipping and will be delivered in about two weeks.
If I don’t have a mower to turn in, can I still purchase a mower?
Yes, Neuton is offering the cordless mower to anyone living in Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery or Preble counties – RAPCA’s jurisdiction - for the discounted price of $289. In order to purchase the mower for this price you will need a coupon. Coupons will be available at the following locations:
- In the lobby of the Montgomery County Solid Waste Administration Office located at 2550 Sandridge Drive in Dayton, or
- At RAPCA’s office located in on the first floor of the Reibold building, 117 S. Main Street in downtown Dayton.

Do I have to be a Montgomery County resident to participate?
Residents living in Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties can participate.
What is included with the mower?
Neuton CE5.2 Cordless mower, mulching blade, grass catcher, and mulch plug.
How long does the battery last?
The battery will last for 45-60 minutes on a single charge. If properly cared for the battery will last about 5 years.
Battery must be charged for 12 hours for full charge.
What size yard will the mower cut before I have to recharge the battery?
The Neuton mower can cut up to a 1/4th of an acre, or any yard that takes about an hour to cut, before it needs to be recharged. Cutting area and cutting time will vary on number of passes and thickness of grass. If you have a large yard you may want to consider purchasing a second battery. The batteries are removable so when your first battery runs out, you can replace it with a fully charged battery and continue cutting. Battery must be charged for 12 hours for full charge.
Can I get my mower back if I decide I don’t like the Neuton Mower?
No, all mowers dropped off will be recycled for their metal content and you will not be able to retrieve your mower.
Does my mower have to be in working order?
Yes, your mower must be in working condition, however, all fluids must be drained before dropping off mower.
How many $150 coupons can I get?
One $150 coupon per household. You may purchase additional mowers at $289.
