Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Poetry Contest
Montgomery County Solid Waste District and Keep
Montgomery County Beautiful are proud to present
the 9th annual KMCB Poetry Contest. Youth are
encouraged to express their environmental ideas
concerning litter prevention and awareness. Use
your imagination and join the winners to see your
poetry in print.
Eligibility
The contest is open to all Montgomery County
students in grades 2-12. (Please note if student is
entering under Special Education division.)
Guidelines

One entry per person, one author per entry.

Poetry theme must relate to litter.

Entries must be legible on one sheet of 8 1/2” x 11” white
paper if not submitted online.

On the back of the page, entries must include:
1) Student's Name
2) Complete Address with City and Zip Code
3) School Name, Grade, and Teacher’s Name
4) Your teacher’s phone number or e-mail address

Entries will be judged by grade on theme usage, creativity, style,
punctuation, spelling, and neatness.

Entries not following the guideline rules will be
disqualified.
2009 Timeline
March 31st : Entries due to Montgomery County Solids Waste
District (MCSWD). (Late entries
will not be judged.)
Mid to Late April : Invitations mailed to winners for award reception.
May 30, 2009 : Awards reception.
