MCMRF Teacher Days

March 14, 2009: Noon - 4:00pm

Normally McMRF is open for free shopping to all registered non-profit organizations on Tuesdays and Fridays, but three times during the school year special "teacher only" shopping events are held allowing all Montgomery County Classroom teachers to attend.

  • Is there a certain item you would like for your classroom?
  • Are there supplies you need for an upcoming project?
  • Do you wish for a way to get materials and incentives for students without spending a ton of money?

9:00 am – 2:00 pm : Natures for ME (Grades PreK- 2)    Limit 15 participants.

Would you like to take a belly hike, walk the un-nature trail, guess without looking what can be recycled, or discover the many kinds of wildlife which come from an egg? You can do this and more with Nature's for Me, an early childhood environmental and recycling activity guide for teachers and parents. Each activity provides the opportunity for the child to develop skills in classification, numbers, representation, seriation, time and spatial relations ¬all key experiences that are often emphasized in an early childhood program. The activities are aligned to Ohio Early Learning Standards. Participants will receive the Nature's for ME curriculum supplement and build a kit of hands-on teaching tools to use in the classroom. Documentation of contact hours for CEUs and early childhood in-service are provided.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 (Registrations start on Thursday, May 7th, 2009)
9:00 am – 2:00 pm : Windows on Waste – WOW! (Grades 3-5)  Limit 15 participants.

Have you ever built a landfill you can eat, looked for "green" recipes to replace chemicals uses in your home or made a garbage pizza? These are a few of the more than 36 activities in the WOW created by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio teachers, and correlated to Ohio Academic Standards. Participants will receive the WOW curriculum supplement and build teaching tools to use in the classroom. Documentation of contact hours for CEUs is provided.
